Community Youth Awards

Congratulations to our final six for the 2007 Ferntree Gully Nissan and Knox Journal Community Youth Awards. In this pay it forward competition, these young leaders of tomorrow are recognized for their efforts and encouraged to continue their selfless attitude toward helping others.

All of these entrants attended the final presentation night at the Ferntree Gully Nissan dealership on Friday 21st September where the title of Community Youth Champions was shared between Josh Ingram (Boronia Heights College) and Bradley Condick (Holy Trinity Primary School). A total of $20,000 was awarded to the finalists and their schools, along with personalized trophies marking their outstanding achievement.

A panel of eleven independent judges cast their votes for the top six based on the community activities, essays and references received from the entrants in the top twenty. The judges were overwhelmed by the efforts and attitude displayed by the candidates, and picking just six entrants each was a difficult task for all.

Special mention goes to Eleni Costa and Jessica Plymin for their excellent entries under difficult circumstances, and also to Nathan Lowe, Stephanie Lynch and the Waste Wise primary group who were very close to being selected in the top six.

All other top twenty candidates received a special certificate recognizing their outstanding achievement in reaching this stage of the competition.
